On April 9, the Caribbean experienced an unprecedented historical event – La Soufriere volcano on St. Vincent and the Grenadines erupted for the first time since 1979. The volcanic explosions brought conditions of ashfall to Barbados, reducing visibility and causing the temporary closure of the Grantley Adams International Airport.
Following a massive cleanup initiative of the airport’s operations area, passenger facilities, and roadways leading to the terminals, the airport was successfully reopened on April 16.
Saint Peter’s Bay Luxury Resort and Residences and Port Ferdinand Yacht and Beach Club Residences, although moderately impacted, have since undergone a thorough cleanup spanning every area of the properties to ensure our high standards of health, safety and sanitation.
In addition to the reopening of the island, the Government of Barbados released its updated Travel Protocols effective May 8.
